Zanotelli overtakes all at the World Cup showjumping in Bordeaux

The first to congratulate him was his two-year-old daughter Maya, to the obvious delight of the winner, and she stayed on her father's arm for a long time: Marlon Modolo Zanotelli was the last rider to close the bag in the jump-off of the World Cup show jumping competition in Bordeaux and relegated the competition to second place with VDL Edgar M (by Arezzo VDL). 35.39 clear seconds - that was almost half a second faster than the young Swiss rider Edouard Schmitz with Quno (by Quo Vados I), who had been leading until then.
It was one of the few jump-offs in which, for once, the world number one Henrik von Eckermann and his exceptional horse King Edward (by Edward) did not capture the golden ribbon. They were fast, of course double-zero again, but 36.45 seconds meant third place in the end for the two success spoiled riders.

Daniel Deusser set the standard with his zero machine Scuderia 1918 Tobago Z (by Otangelo) as the second starter in the jump-off with a clear 37.25 seconds. This meant sixth place in the final standings. But for the overall standings of the Western Europe League in the World Cup, this meant another eleven points. No matter what happens, with this points account in third place in the intermediate ranking, the final in Omaha is more than certain, while Marlon Modolo Zanotelli can only now think about packing his suitcase thanks to the 20 points he got for the victory. Because with the 38 total points thus achieved, he is now in 15th place - and the best 18 are qualified. The last Western European stop in Gothenburg on the last weekend in February will then provide final clarity.
From the German point of view, besides Daniel Deusser, there is no doubt that he has already qualified:
Gerrit Nieberg in sixth place in the intermediate classification, after he was able to pick up another three points in Bordeaux after a mistake in the jump-off on Blues d'Aveline in 14th place,
Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann in tenth place in the intermediate classification,
Marcus Ehning in eleventh place, after he also had a down in the jump-off on Stargold, but still received a point in 16th place.
Two German riders still have to score points at the last chance in Gothenburg: Richard Vogel, who did not compete in Bordeaux as 17th in the intermediate classification, and Hansi Dreher, currently in 22nd place, who was on his way to the jump-off for a long time with Cous Cous in Bordeaux, but was then thwarted by a drop in the round.
