Westphalian Main Licensing for Small Horse Stallions 2022

The third Advent weekend at the Westphalian Horse Centre was all about the small horse stallions. Already on Saturday, seven of twelve stallions could be approved for the stud books Welsh, Dülmener, Shetland and German Partbred Shetland Pony. The winning stallion of the Shetland breed was a Gorden B/Antoine de Boullion son. A Cash-O/Sampson van Stal Anja son was selected as the winner in the German Partbred Shetland Pony category. Out of 47 riding pony stallions, 32 received a positive grading after the final free running and free jumping on Sunday. Nine stallions were awarded a premium. The title Champion Stallion of the dressage riding pony stallions went to a son of Herzzauber D/Casino Royale K WE-son. The winner of the jumping riding pony stallions was a stallion by Mylord Manolito HW/Best of G.

Champion stallion out of an important dam line: Herzgold D

The winner's sash in the dressage pony class was a Herzzauber D/Casino-Royale K WE-son bred and exhibited by Danica Duen, Bad Oeynhausen. The Westphalian with an important dam line and two licensed half-brothers stands on a correct foundation and stood out especially with his outstanding trot. With the significant name Herzgold D, the young sire will be exhibited at the Duen station.

Outstanding show jumping winner: Top Messenger

An eventful licensing week came to a worthy finale in Münster-Handorf on Sunday afternoon when the winners of the riding pony stallions were honoured. In front of a full audience, five of the premium stallions were admitted to the final ring, two of them representing this year's particularly strong jumping lot. The winner of the jumping stallions was celebrated with great applause: a son of this year's Westphalian Champion of the six-year-old jumping ponies, Mylord Manolito HW. He was bred by Friedrich-Wilhelm Feldhaus, Breckerfeld, out of a mare by Best of G/Kantje's Carlando. The beautifully presented, long lined Westphalian already scored points in the triangle with a good foundation and a lot of mechanics. He completed the final free jumping in a perfect manner with a lot of caution, ability and reflex. Josef and Martina Volle, Lüdinghausen, exhibited the charming chestnut stallion, who will work under the name Top Messenger at the Volle station in the future. According to breeding director Münch an absolute recommendation for jumping pony breeders. The 1st Reserve Champion was a FS Mr. Right/Lancer II son bred by Arno Leufkens, Straelen. The full brother of the licensed Movie Star from Ferienhof Stücker, Weeze was exhibited. The still young but generously lined brown sable stallion moved with excellent hindquarter activity and impression and scored with a lot of elasticity and ability as well as best attitude in free jumping.

Winning Shetland and German Partbred Shetland Pony Stallions

After the presentation at the Handorf Triangle and the free running in the hall, the winner of the Shetland breed was decided on Saturday: a son of Gorden B, bred by Kim Katja Ferken out of the national premium St.Pr.St. Harlette v.d. Kralen by Antoine de Boullion. The Shetland stallion (under 87cm) was exhibited by Lukas Kost, Ense. The black pinto convinced with his excellent type, harmonious body proportions and correct foundation. In addition, his walk and trot were of special quality. The winner's sash in the German Partbred Shetland Pony category went to a Dutch Appaloosa pony stallion by Cash-O/Sampson van Stal Anja (breeder: D. Slijkhuis, Netherlands; exhibitor: Matthias Stickamp, Herzlake). Chip - that is the name of the eye-catching brown tiger pinto, who scored with good impulsion and significant forehand mechanics. Three other Shetland pony stallions as well as one Welsh B stallion and one Dülmen stallion each received a positive approval. The Westphalian Stud Book looks back on a successful licensing week, thanks all breeders and exhibitors and is already looking forward to a successful breeding year 2023.
