TC Athene retired from sport
TC Athene is one of the best dressage horses in the U25 range in Germany.
But the 16-year-old gelding was forced to give up the sport.
During a routine examination, it was discovered that the winner of the gold medal has a heart defect. This since according to his rider, Jeanine Nieuwenhuis, no life-threatening risk.
But unfortunately he is so now no longer fit for competitive sport.
The Olivi-Jazz-Ulft son was known throughout Europe. Gold medals at European Championships were among his specialties. In 2016 in Oliva gold at the European Championships for young riders.
2017 the following year, won silver with the team at the U25- European Championships, as well as 2018 and 2019.
Then last year came the absolute success. The two won gold with the team at the European Championships.
For Jeanine Nieuwenhuis, the retirement of TC Athene is a bitter blow. The gelding so far her only Grand Prix horse. Now she would like to devote herself more to the training of young horses, in order to be able to enter with these then again into the king class.
