The Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington (Florida) is one of the most famous tournaments in the world. Last weekend it came to an end. It was the twelfth week of the tournament.
The winner was a USA American. Adam Prudent (USA) in the saddle of his eleven-year-old Oldenburger Baloutinue by Balou du Rouet-Landor S.

A total of 42 pairs competed in the competition. Of these, eight riders made it into the jump-off. Already the first rounds proved to be fast and brilliant. For example, the Canadian Jim Ifko, whose time seemed hard to beat. But then came Adam Prudent with his Oldenburger and literally flew away from the competition.
Even Kent Farrington, who is one of the best and fastest riders in the world, could not beat this time. With his top mare Gazelle it became in the end rank 3.

The young American Prudent was particularly proud of his horse today. He accompanies it now since his first tournaments and can always rely on his partner.
"The horse is very careful, I haven't really had the chance to ride him fast until now, as this was only the third jump-off in a Grand Prix with him. This time I really pushed the envelope and asked him to give everything for the first time. I knew there were some fast people coming after me. That's why I really wanted to try everything and take every risk. That worked out well."

If you think third-placed Kent Farrington is upset now, you'd be wrong. Farrington acknowledged his compatriot's victory without envy.
"I was late in the jump-off and these two here earlier and went all out to win u, which I appreciate. I think this is great sport. They both had incredible rounds today and the jump-off was built very open. That suits nimble horses like theirs well."
Farrington himself considered this year's starting field to be particularly select: "I think we had more riders from Europe here this time than in the past. I think at least five riders from the top ten in the world rankings are here. That makes everyone ride better here. There was not one jumping event that was easy to win. From that point of view, everyone who has won here once really deserves it. There were high class horses here and super riding. Today was no exception."
