Lunging whip

You need lunging whips if you want to lunge your horse effectively. They work like an extension of the arm, so that you can give your horse clear and understandable instructions even at a distance on the lunge. But there are also bow whips suitable for ground work.
For lunging you need, besides a reasonable equipment for your horse, also a suitable whip.
This is between 160 cm and 180 cm long and also has a long rope, the so-called stroke, at the upper end.
With this you can drive your horse purposefully, brake it or send it outside.

The lunging whip consists of a light, flexible but stable stick and a whip line. The whip line should be long enough so that the lunger can reach the horse at any time with the end of the whip stroke when the arm is stretched out. The length of the whip is chosen according to the horse's needs and can be between four to eight meters including the stroke. The handle and the first third of the whip handle should be heavy enough that the remaining part including the string is balanced, since only a well-balanced whip allows a good impact.

Lunging whips can be different in their design. There are whips whose stick must be screwed together in the middle or telescopic whips whose stick can be extended in several elements.
The whip line must be maintained regularly by removing knots and sand.
