After the first day of dressage, Ingrid Klimke is in the lead in the CCI4*-S. In the CCI2*-S ktuell in first and second place is the Swiss Christine Lang.
The weather on today's first dressage day of the International Marbach Eventing was not exactly what you could call "spring-like" - it was cold, windy and it was raining. But the riders did not let this spoil their good mood. They were happy to be able to compete at all. Due to the pandemic, the number of show dates is still not too high. And after all, it's all about recommending themselves for the Olympic Games in Tokyo and the European Championships in September in Avenches. In addition, the title in the championship of the German professional riders in the eventing saddle will be ridden on the grounds of the Baden-Württemberg Main and County Stud and Baden-Württemberg's best will compete for medals in the state championship.
It was not a big surprise: Ingrid Klimke, the two-time Olympic team champion and European champion in the individual classification leads the field in the CCI4*-S with her top horse after the first day of dressage. 24.6 minus points were the result for the rider from Münster and her 17-year-old veteran SAP Hale-Bob OLD.

The Swedish rider Katrin Norling, who already competed at the Peking 2008 Olympic Games , and the eleven-year-old Dutch-bred gelding Fernando-Ukato currently have two points more on their account. Currently in third place is another German championship rider, Sandra Auffarth: The double World Champion of 2014 and the eleven-year-old Viamant du Matz have 26.7 points on their account. Behind them Michael Jung lined up with fischerWild Wave. 27 points is the dressage score for the exceptional rider from Horb in the Black Forest and his nine-year-old Holstein half-breed.

In the CCI2*-S, after today's dressage day, a Swiss rider is in the lead with Christine Lang. And that twice: 26.5 minus points were awarded for her presentation of the nine-year-old Holsteiner Cooper, with whom she had placed fourth in the CCI2*-L in Luhmühlen last October, 27.4 minus points were awarded by the judges for her presentation of the Oldenburg gelding Collandro. And Ingrid Klimke was also among the front runners in this field: Van Hera P is the name of the seven-year-old Oldenburg, with which she scored 27.5 points and thus currently completes the top trio.
The current rankings are unlikely to last too long. Because also tomorrow, on the second dressage day, well-known riders and horses are on the starting lists. The experienced Belgian Karin Donckers, for example, winner in Marbach 2016, first thing in the morning (start time 7:37 a.m.) or also Andreas Dibowski, the veteran in the German championship squad (11:21 a.m.) and not to forget Michael Jung with fischerChipmunk FRH (12:59 p.m.), with whom he had succeeded in mid-April at Gut Weiherhof in Radolfzell in a sovereign start-finish victory in the CCI3*-S. As is well known, spectators are not allowed at this tournament - but the free live stream with commentary at www.marbacher-vielseitigkeit.de will provide some Marbach feeling for the fans.
By the way, the weather is supposed to be better tomorrow and bright and beautiful on Saturday, just in time for the final cross-country tests. And the terrain on the Swabian Alb can withstand rain. So the best conditions for riders and horses.
