Germany wins Nations Cup Series 2022

The German eventers have won the Nations Cup Series 2022. With a fourth place for the German team at the last stop of the series in Boekelo, the Netherlands, the victory in the overall ranking could not be taken away from the Germans.
The fourth place meant 70 additional points for Germany and a final score of 450 points in the Nations Cup series. Overall, the German eventers were able to collect points at six of the eight stations, including a victory at Haras de le Pin in France and a second place at Arville in Belgium. Second place in the series went to Italy with 415 points, followed by Sweden 375 points and Great Britain with 350 points.

The strongest rider for the German team in Boekelo was the newly-crowned team World Champion Sandra Auffarth (Ganderkesee), who produced a penalty-free cross-country ride with Rosveel and came ninth in the end with 32.9 minus points. Arne Bergendahl (Hamminkeln) also jumped clear in the cross-country with Luthien, but did not compete in the jumping competition at the end. Instead, the two young riders Emma Brüssau (23, Schriesheim) scored points for the German team with Dark Desire GS (42.4 minus points/ 23rd place) as well as the sports soldier and U21 European Team Vice Champion Libussa Lübbeke from Wingst with Darcy F (48.3/ 31st place). In total, the team scored 123.6 minus points. The victory in the Nations Cup of Boekelo went to the team from Great Britain with Laura Collett/Dacapo, Rosalind Canter/Izilot DHI, Sarah Bullimore/ Evita AP and Kirsty Chabert/Opposition Heraldik Girl with 95.7 minus points ahead of New Zealand (101.9) and France (110.1).
The victory in the individual classification of the CCIO4* went to New Zealand's Tim Price with Happy Boy ahead of Britain's Tom McEwen and JL Dublin. Both finished the competition on equal points with their dressage score of 25.6 minus points. However, because of the "slower" cross-country ride, Price was ahead. He was one second closer to the optimum time on the course. Both riders benefited from a jumping mistake by the British rider Laura Collett and Dacapo, who had been leading until then. She finished third with 25.9 minus points.
