The German team took victory in the Nations Cup ahead of France and Great Britain at the fifth leg of the FEI Eventing Nations Cup in Haras du Pin, France, at the weekend. The Austrian team, which comprised only three riders, slipped back to eleventh and penultimate place after Harald Ambros (AUT) had to withdraw his Lexikon 2 before the final jumping round for the sake of the horse.
Great rounds in the dressage and on the cross-country course of the short four-star competition in the French Haras du Pin put the German team in a great starting position before the final jumping competition. The 22-year-old Nations' Cup debutant Alina Dibowski (GER), daughter of the team Olympic gold medallist from Beijing 2008 Andreas Dibowski, secured the victory for herself and her team colleagues Malin Hansen-Hotopp (GER), Sophie Leube (GER) and Nicolai Aldinger (GER) with her clear round in the jumping.
Behind them, the home team from France and Great Britain placed second and third. In the individual classification of the CCI4*-S test, Michael Jung (GER) celebrated a start-finish victory with his successful horse FischerChipmunk FRH, bred by Contendro (22.8 minus points). Behind him, Mollie Summerland (GBR/ 24.1 minus points) placed second in the saddle of the Hanoverian gelding Charly van ter Heiden, ahead of the German team rider Alina Dibowski on Barados (27.4 minus points).
