Future Champions Hagen: Brilliant performance of the dressage teams

Hagen am Teutoburg Forest (fn-press). The German dressage riders and their horses presented themselves in excellent form at the Nations Cup tournament "Future Champions". At the international junior tournament at Hof Kasselmann in Hagen, the German teams secured victory in the age groups children, juniors and young riders.

"It's great to see the young talents at such a beautiful youth tournament like Hagen, we are very grateful for this event. We have brought talented couples to the start here, including well-established combinations that have used their experience, but also some new ones Couples who took their chance and presented themselves very well," said the satisfied youth national coach, Hans-Heinrich Meyer zu Strohen. The German national anthem was played four times in Hagen, meaning that the German teams won all team classifications in dressage. In the coming days, the decisions in individual evaluation and freestyle will be ridden out.

The juniors started with their Nations Cup. Rose Oatley (Lütjensee) presented with the Westphalian Rock Forever son Rock Revoluation: 72.025 percent. Lana-Pinou Baumgurt (Nottuln) and the Westphalian Emma FH, by Escolar, were the second German couple to receive 70.404 percent from the judges. Allegra Schmitz-Morkramer from Hamburg and the Hanoverian stallion Libertad had already won the price of the best in Warendorf and were also in top form in the Nations Cup in Hagen: 75.707 percent meant the best result of the test and in the end 147.727 points for the German team , which is two points ahead of Denmark and won. Bronze in the U18 age group went to France with 141.566 percent.

The German dressage riders in the U21 age group were also in top form in their Nations Cup. The three medal winners of the Preis der Beste made up the German team and earned 150,637 points, winning ahead of another strong team from Denmark with 147,107 points. Lucie-Anouk Baumgurt (Nottuln) and Hugo FH had already won the 2012 European Championship gold in the juniors and seamlessly continued their success in the U21 age group: 75,980 percent meant the best result in the team task. "Lucie-Anouk is a very safe test rider, she can fully exploit her experience from the pony to the young rider area. Her horse is well trained, both of them have strong nerves and we saw really nice riding. That was also rewarded accordingly by the judges," said Meyer zu Strohen. In 2021, Helena Schmitz-Morkramer and DSP Lifestyle were also part of the German U21 team that won silver at the European Championships in Oliva, Spain. With her Brandenburg-bred Lord Fantastic son, the young rider from Hamburg received 74.657 percent in the team test in Hagen. Jana Schrödter (Leipheim) and her Oldenburger Der Erbe OLD are also “old hands” on international terrain: in 2019 they took home three medals from the Junior European Championships. In April of this year they won the Young Riders Freestyle in Stadl Paura. In the team task, they received 70,049 percent, a bit low from the point of view of the national coach: "Jana showed a great test, there is still a lot of potential," he said.

U14 team dominates team competition

The German children, i.e. riders up to 14 years of age on big horses, won with a lead of five points, ahead of Belgium and the Netherlands. The Hanoverian Sir Donnerhall offspring Sir Piccolino and his rider Zoe Marie Hachmeier (Schönhausen) presented as the first pair for Germany with 79.3 percent - the best result of the test. "Zoe Marie was already very convincing at the selection for the price of the best. She has developed further, her horse has a great basic training and both of them presented themselves optimally here", praised the national trainer.

Lotta Plaas (Warendorf) and the Trakehner Balsamico have already won team gold at the Children's European Championships in 2021. They received 73,625 percent in Hagen. Martha Raupach was also part of the children's team at last year's European Championships, but with Jack Sparrow. For the Nations Cup in Hagen, she had saddled Francis Drake OLD from Oldenburg and scored 75.075 percent with him. Her partner under the saddle is no stranger: the Franklin son finished eighth with Leonie Richter in the final for five-year-old dressage horses at the World Championships in Verden.

The pony team led by junior national coach Caroline Roost was also at the top of the podium. Julie Sofie Schmitz-Heinen (Wermelskirchen) and her successful Oldenburg pony Carleo Go delivered the best result in the test: 73.667 percent. For the performance of Carolina Miesner (Scheeßel) and Novellini, the judges awarded 73 percent, Georgina Kraft and DSP Ti Daily Challenge received 71.524 percent. This Nations Cup was also in German hands, ahead of Denmark and the Netherlands. "Everyone really did a good job," praised Caroline Roost.
