Blow of fate for Dorothee Schneider
Yesterday, Sunday, April 18, 2021, a bitter blow of fate occurred in the life of Dorothee Schneider.
A situation that certainly no rider in this world can imagine and wishes.
The loss of a beloved sports partner.
Actually, the dressage tournament in Pforzheim was already finished. The course was just in the award ceremony. Then the misfortune happened!
The 17-year-old mare by Schneider "Fohlenhofs Rock n' Rose" collapsed in the award ceremony.
The collapse happened quite suddenly. The team Olympic champion Schneider also did not expect it.
She fell with the mare and initially remained motionless next to the mare love.
Immediately, a team of paramedics was with Schneider and took care of her. Also with the mare was immediately a veterinarian. These fought still in vain for the life of the mare, but she died still in the sand of the riding hall.
The veterinarian on the spot tentatively suspected an aortic rupture, which could also have caused a sudden collapse.
For Schneider, it was probably the worst minutes of her life so far. She initially lay next to the injured mare for a few minutes, as she herself initially still had to receive emergency medical care.
Through all of this, Schneider was still fully conscious.
She was taken to a nearby hospital.
