Barcelona (fn-press). Late on Friday evening the preliminary competition of the Nations Cup Final of the show jumpers in Barcelona was decided. 15 nations fought for the entry into the decisive round on Sunday. The German team was in top form and won the competition with only two faults ahead of the surprisingly strong Spaniards (3) and the Dutch (4).

The Nations Cup Final of the FEI World Equestrian Federation brought the world's best 15 show jumping nations to the Catalan metropolis of Barcelona, as it has done for many years. The mode provides that first all 15 teams compete in a fault-time jumping competition. The best eight teams qualify for the final on Sunday, which is worth 1.25 million euros, and all the other teams (from ninth place) compete in the so-called Challenge Cup (Small Final) on Saturday evening.

The German team took a commanding lead and will go into the final decision as the winners of the preliminary competition. Daniel Deußer (Rijmenam/Belgium) and the Belgian mare Killer Queen confirmed their outstanding form of the last weeks and finished the course without any faults. André Thieme (Plau am See) and the Brandenburg mare DSP Chakaria as well as Christian Ahlmann (Marl) and the Zangersheide stallion Clintrexo Z finished with one time penalty point each, so that the team only had a total of two faults on their account. David Will (Marburg) and the Holstein gelding C-Vier did not have the luckiest day: Nine faults formed the strike result.

The final on Sunday with the eight best teams will be broadcast by Clipmyhorse.tv from 3 p.m. hen
