CHI Geneva: Top sport with Rolex IJRC Top 10 Final and Rolex Grand Prix

In two months' time, the CHI Geneva will be on the show calendar for the show jumpers. This year, the programme of the Concours Hippique International of Geneva (CHIG) will no longer be presented on four days, but on five. The first day on Wednesday will be reserved for the national competitions. The competitions, which year after year make up the success of the Geneva event, will take place as usual from Thursday to Sunday, with numerous highlights on the programme.
As the CHIG starts one day earlier - already on Wednesday - the competitors of the national competitions will concentrate on their respective tests on that day. As a bonus for the best, there will be participation in the CHIG's new competition, the Credit Suisse Coupe du Jockey Club, which starts early on Saturday evening. In this team competition, two Jockey Club prize winners plus an international rider and an event rider will compete in each formation. The competition, which is held in one round with a jump-off, allows professional and amateur riders to form a team, which can also be joined by riders who competed in the indoor eventing the previous evening. A novelty that will put team spirit at the heart of the competition.

On Thursday and Friday, the CHIG opens its doors in the late morning with the international competitions. The Trophée de Genève on Thursday evening, a qualifying competition for the Rolex Grand Prix on Sunday, will see the best horse-rider pairs compete in the world's largest indoor arena, with Sunday the big goal for each individual. On Friday, the indoor eventing, presented by the Tribune de Genève, will start at 6pm. The indoor cross will be presented in the sold-out Palexpo to a public that is enthusiastic about this equestrian discipline that is rarely held indoors. This will be followed by the Rolex IJRC Top 10 Final, where the current top ten riders and the best horses will compete in a demanding and high-class jumping competition in two rounds.

Young talent in the spotlight

The riders under 25 will get their money's worth with three U25 competitions, including the Land Rover Grand Prix, which will be held on Saturday morning. The Geneva organisers have always been keen to support young talent. And perhaps the winners of the U25 competitions in Geneva will one day find themselves on the roof of the show jumping world.
On Saturday, the public will see the traditional CHIG competitions again, including the Coupe de Genève, a unique combination competition worldwide, the Hunt competition, whose passages in the lake are always a highlight, and the Credit Suisse Challenge in the evening, a competition that counts towards the world rankings.

Driving and the Rolex Grand Prix as the highlight

The drivers will make their first appearance on Saturday afternoon with an opening test presented by the Institut International de Lancy. This test will determine the starting order of the six riders competing in Geneva in the official leg of the FEI World Driving Cup. The competition, presented by Radio Télévision Suisse, will start on Sunday morning. The day will continue with the final competition, the Rolex Grand Prix, one of the four majors of the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping. Will the German Daniel Deusser, who won in 's-Hertogenbosch and in Calgary, win a third of four Grand Prix? Unless his compatriot Gerrit Nieberg, who won in Aachen and placed well at the Spruce Meadows Masters, adds another Grand Slam victory to his record. The answer to this will be on 11 December.
In addition to all these competitions, a horse show, presentations of Swiss breeding, the Schools' Day on Thursday with educational workshops, the Exhibitors' Village and numerous restaurants will offer the public the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the world of horses. See you at Palexpo from 7 to 11 December this year
