Hoof pick

The hoof pick is an indispensable utensil in every cleaning box. Faeces, urine, straw residues, shavings, stones, sand and mud - a horse's hoof goes through thick and thin, wet and dry, soft and hard surfaces every day.
It is a paradise for fungi and bacteria, which seem to be just waiting to nestle in cracks on the sole of the hoof and frog furrows to promote their nasty rotting processes. The rotting of the frog can be the result.

A hoof pick consists of a handle, usually made of wood, plastic or metal, to which a metal hook is attached. On some hoof picks, a brush is attached opposite the metal hook, which also serves to clean the sole of the hoof.
If the horse's hoof gets stuck in the frog, for example, a small stone or other hard object, this can be painful and can cause lameness or a hoof ulcer.
The hoof pick is therefore a natural part of every well-assorted grooming box. There is no lack of choice: If you type "hoof pick" into search engines, for example, you will receive a good 127,000 suggestions - offers from numerous manufacturers, hoof picks in all colors and various shapes. Which one to choose in the end is up to the individual.
