Circussik/ gound work

Circus ground workd are by no means only circus lessons. Circus lessons serve to train the horse and deepen the communication between man and horse. However, especially the lessons above ground like the levade or climbing should be trained with caution. Here accidents can easily happen or the horse becomes too dominant towards the human!

Here some circus lessons will be presented:

  • Compliment: The horse takes one front leg bent under the body, the other front leg remains normally on the ground, the horse shifts its weight backwards, leaving the hind legs stretched.
Strengthens the back muscles, promotes balance and shoulder freedom.

  • Spanish walk: Forward striding movement in which the horse stretches one leg forward with a pronounced knee action and feet forward with the opposite hind leg.
Exercises the hindquarters and back muscles, promotes shoulder freedom. Can bring horses back into the correct four beat with a passable stride.

  • Levade: Horse lifts his forehand away from the ground by lowering his hindquarters.
Strengthens the hindquarters and promotes balance.
  • Climb: Horse rises from a swing to the hindquarters.
Strengthens the hindquarters and promotes balance.
  • Lying: The horse lies down on command and gets up again on demand.
Strengthens the bond and trust between man and horse.

The training of the horse in circus lessons should always be done without force! If necessary, a trainer experienced in ground work and circus techniques should be consulted!
