Description
For this exercise 6 rods are needed, which are laid out as shown above. Afterwards there are numerous possibilities to ride over the poles in walk, trot or canter. The diagram shows a possible way, where one pole is crossed as well as two diagonal poles and two parallel poles.
Tips and hints
The bar formation can be placed in any orientation in the riding arena. The size of the bows and the gait can be adapted to the level of training of rider and horse.Training goal
The exercise can have a variety of effects and add variety to the daily training. The horse has to concentrate especially, because the ridden path is not obvious. The numerous twists and turns improve longitudinal bending. At the same time the hindquarters are activated by riding over the poles.
