Volt

EASY

Description

At any point of the riding arena, a small circle is ridden from the track until the track is reached again. The diameter of the volt should be no more than 10 metres and can be slowly reduced depending on the level of training of horse and rider.

Tips and hints

Position and bend are adapted to the turn depending on the size of the volt. With smaller voltes the horse is therefore more strongly set and bent than with larger voltes. The hindquarters follow the track of the forehand. In order to be able to ride the volt, care must be taken that the horse does not turn too steeply from or to the track when starting and ending the exercise.

Training goal

Voltes are used for gymnastics and can especially improve longitudinal bending. The small radius promotes a more pronounced undercut as well as increased load bearing of the inner hind leg. In addition, the curvature stretches the muscles on the outside and activates the muscles on the inner side.
