Backwards through pole lanes

EASY

Description

For this exercise, 2 poles are laid out parallel to each other at a distance of about one meter to form a pole lane. The rider rides forward into the pole lane and after a short stay in the middle of the pole lane rides backwards out of the polelane.

Tips and hints

As a variation of the exercise, you can ride forward through the pole lane until the hindquarters reach the end of the pole. From this position, the horse is moved backwards until it is centered between the poles.

Training goal

The pole lane provides visual orientation for horse and rider and thus enables a targeted training for backward straightening. Backward pointing promotes the horse's confidence in the rider and leads to a bulging of the back, lowering of the croup and increased bending of the hanks. Furthermore, permeability, collection and above all obedience are checked.
