Special features of assistance in the racing seat

In the racing seat, the necessary forward driving aid is provided by the natural movement of the upper body in the rhythm of the racing gallop, which is transferred to the horse via the knees in a driving manner. When riding the racetrack curves (turns) an increased leaning against the outer rein and a shift of weight inwards is necessary to keep the balance between rider and horse. In general, the directional hand is guided slightly from the horse's neck in the direction in which the horse should go.
The jumping of individual track obstacles should always be done in a steady rhythm without balancing backwards. The training must ensure that horses on the racetrack jump fluently and choose the jump independently. When giving way over the jump, the safe leaning must be maintained. The rider's position should remain as unchanged as possible so as not to disturb the horse.
