Westphalian Winter Auction highly successful at short notice as live auction

Münster: In a live auction, 40 riding horses and three riding ponies were for sale at the Westphalian Stud Book. The live event, which was organised at short notice, aroused high interest among regular and new customers in Münster-Handorf. In exciting bidding duels, a total of 36 riding horses and ponies changed hands at an average price of 27,986 Euros. The most popular offer of the evening was the head number 3 Ecstasy. The licensed and performance tested stallion was worth 69,000 Euros to his new owners.
The Westphalian Stud Book made a virtue out of necessity this Friday evening. After the online auction of riding horses could not take place as planned last Sunday, a live auction was organised at short notice in Münster-Handorf. It was exactly three years ago that riding horses were auctioned live in the auction hall at the Westphalian Horse Centre. For the first time, the 43 riding horses and ponies were presented for auction in hand in the auction arena. The audience enjoyed this revived live auction very much. Already at the reception in the newly renovated stables, numerous interested parties came to examine their potential new horse.

Regular customers from Bavaria had a particularly good hand this evening. They bought the head number 3 Ecstasy (breeder: Dr. Frauke Oelerich, Grömitz; exhibitor: Matthias Schlamminger, Regensburg) at the top price of 69,000 Euros. The licensed stallion is an well acquainted with Münster-Handorf. As a foal, the son of Escolar/Sir Donnerhall I changed hands for the first time at the foal auction. At the stallion sale 2021 he received the predicate licensed. He passed his 50-day-test in Schlieckau last year with a final score of 8.45. A horse with a promising future in breeding and sport! The 17 dressage horses sold cost an average of 29,206 Euros.
The lot of dressage riding horses was completed by three riding ponies. All three could be sold to new owners at top prices. The former Bundeschampion DSP Glückskeks was hard fought for. The son of Golden West/FS Champion de Luxe (breeder: Heike Schulmerig, Gundheim; exhibitor: Veronika Vielwerth-Rankl, Pfaffenhofen), who placed highly in elementary class dressage tests for young horses, found many fans in Germany and abroad. The six-year-old pony gelding was knocked down for 38,000 Euros and will remain in Germany. With a total turnover of 86,000 Euros, the customers invested an average of 28,666 Euros in the riding ponies.
At an average price of 26,563 Euros, 16 show jumpers were sold. With the head number 44, Opal H was the most popular offer. The son of Dakar VDL/Mermus R (breeder: L. van den Hof, Netherlands; exhibitor: BG Zurich/Theele, Schüttorf) impressed everyone with his excellent manner and ability at the jump. For the hammer price of 47,500 Euros, he will remain in Germany.
For a total average price of 27,986 Euros, 36 horses and ponies changed hands that evening. Eight of these cost over 40,000 Euros. Ten of these young talents found their new homes outside of Germany. In total, the Westphalian Stud Book turned over 1 million Euros. "A special thanks goes to the whole team of the Westphalian Stud Book who switched the auction from online to live in just under five days. Without the energetic commitment of all employees, such a successful auction would not have been possible. I am happy and proud to have a team that is able to meet this challenge," said auction manager Thomas Münch after the extremely successful event.
