It happened after jump two. Ludger Beerbaum had cleared the 1.45m obstacle in the World Ranking List show jumping competition in Doha on Thursday with the only nine-year-old Christians Carado (by Christian) without any faults. However, when landing the gelding stumbled and Ludger Beerbaum was unable to ride out the momentum that developed from this, but fell out of the saddle. Christian's Carado trotted away, frightened but unhurt. One of the first to rush to the rescue was Ludger's trusted friend Marcus Ehning.
Afterwards, they left the course on a golf cart and then went to the hospital. Ludger Beerbaum had broken his leg in the fall and was immediately operated on in Doha. "The operation went well," his spokesperson Susanne Strübel was able to give the all-clear to spring-reiter.de.
But on this Friday, of course, he was then only able to follow the two rounds of the Global Champions League, in which he actually wanted to compete in Team Riesenbeck, on the screen in his sickbed. His two Riesenbeck riders Christian Kukuk and Philipp Weishaupt dedicated their victory to him - and he congratulated them via WhatsApp.
