Horse world mourns sire legend Stakkato

Two days ago, the horse world mourned the death of Conthargos, now it is time to say goodbye to a sire who leaves an even bigger mark:
Stakkato, the little stallion with the giant jumping power and the giant crowd of successful offspring, is no longer alive.
The State Stud in Celle has dedicated a loving obituary to him that could not be more beautiful:
"We will never forget you, Stakkato!
On 4 April you would have been 30 years old, but now we had to say goodbye to you yesterday.
Stakkato by Spartan - Pygmalion (breeder: August Meyer, Süstedt) was discovered as a young stallion at the Hanoverian licensing in 1995 and from then on his great career as a Celle state stud stallion began.
The bay stallion, who is only 1.63 m tall, had his sporting breakthrough with his rider Eva Bitter in 1998 at the Bundeschampionat, where he won impressively in the class for five-year-old show jumpers. A year later, he came a close second in the six-year-old class and many other international placings as well as titles, such as at the German Championships, followed.

But his breeding career was also a complete success. Since 2001, Stakkato has been one of the top show jumpers in the integrated breeding evaluation, which he owes to his great offspring. A total of 76 licensed stallions, 104 State Premium mares and 246 successful offspring in advanced (S) level show jumping classes are among his breeding achievements. He was also awarded the title "Hanoverian Stallion of the Year" in 2007.
We are very sad about the loss of this sire legend and would like to thank Eva Bitter & her team once again for their excellent care over the decades! Take care, Stakkato!"
