Daniel Deusser and Tobago Z win Grand Prix in New York

Sometimes you just have to wait a little for the best things in life: Daniel Deusser had to painfully do without his top sport partner Scuderia 1918 Tobago Z (by Tangelo vd Zuuthoeve) for a few months after an injury in March. In August, the little stallion with the big fighter heart made a comeback at his home tournament in Brussels with a victory in the CSI3* Grand Prix. As of today, the dream team Double D and Tobago, who won the Rolex Grand Prix in s'Hertogenbosch together in March, is back in the big game. Deusser and Tobago already made a first statement with their victory in the Grand Prix Qualifier in New York on Saturday afternoon.

And also in the Grand Prix they didn't give the competition a chance: As the last pair in the jump-off they rolled up the field from the back and secured the victory in the Grand Prix of New York after a fast and, of course, faultless 41.07 seconds, including 100,000 Euros prize money. For Deusser, who recently won the Rolex Grand Prix in Calgary with Killer Queen, this is already the second Grand Prix victory of the season on the Longines Global Champions Tour. He already stood at the top of the podium in Cannes with Bingo Ste Hermelle. His current 18th place in the world rankings is likely to be corrected upwards significantly in the near future.
Only four riders left all the poles in the Grand Prix in N.Y. and entered the jump-off. Pieter Devos and Mom's Toupie de la Roque (by Kannan) were overtaken by Deusser in the end with their 41.15 seconds in the jump-off and finished second. Malin Baryard-Johnsson and her H&M Indiana (by Kashmir van het Schuttershof) moved into third place ahead of Shane Sweetnam and Alejandro (by Acorados Ass).
Also still in the money with one drop in the round were Marcus Ehning and Priam du Roset (by Plot Blue) in eleventh place.
