Brilliant Star successful at stallion performance test

On 22 November, the Big Star son Brilliant Star, trained by Andreas Rubly, completed his 50-day stallion performance test at the Adelheidsdorf testing centre with flying colours. The judges gave the four-year-old stallion a dream score of 9.0 a whole five times.
The story of Brilliant Star began at a foal auction. His current owner had seen the powerful jumping stallion Big Star under Nick Skelton at the CHIO Aachen and fell in love with the sire right away. From then on, it was her dream to have a foal by Big Star. In 2018, the time had come and a foal by Big Star out of a Nabab de Reve dam was successfully purchased at auction.
As a weanling, the Big Star foal moved to the Rubly breeding and training stables to grow up in the young horse herd. The owner quickly found a nice name for the bay foal: Brilliant Star.

After Brilliant Star reached the age of three, Andreas Rubly was commissioned by the owner to take the stallion into his training stable and to break him in. Brilliant Star already showed himself to be completely clear and focused in the first weeks of training, so that it was decided, in consultation with the owner, to prepare the stallion for licensing.
Brilliant Star also completed the presentation in hand, the free running and especially the free jumping during the preparation for the licensing with ease. Thus, the stallion was successfully licensed in 2021.
Brilliant Star gained his first show experience under Andreas Rubly this year in tests for young show jumpers up to 1.15m level with scores up to 8.0.
In autumn this year, the four-year-old stallion was finally stabled for the 50-day stallion performance test in Adelheidsdorf, Lower Saxony, to receive his final breeding approval. In addition to free jumping, the young stallions also have to complete an age-appropriate course under the rider as part of this test. The stallions are presented in the final test by a rider who is assigned to the stallion over the 50 days, as well as an foreign rider.
During his entire stay in Adelsheidsdorf, as well as in the final test in particular, Brilliant Star showed his well-founded basic training by Andreas Rubly. The stallion showed his potential and ability under the rider as well as in free jumping.
Thus the judge's verdict was as follows:
"When the jumping starts, this stallion is simply a great athlete! He is incredibly energetic, incredibly concentrated at the jump, always basculing, always with the jump in his sights. We like that kind of thing! He was super good in the free jumping, he showed a lot of overview and also basculed safely there, so he knew how to convince us!"
The judges awarded Brilliant Star the following marks:
Interior: 9.0
Character/ Temperament: 9,0
Willingness to perform: 9,0
Trot: 7,0
Canter: 8,0
Walk: 7,5
Rideability: 8,5
Ability: 9,0
Manner: 8,5
Overall impression: 9,0
Foreign rider: 8,25
Thus Brilliant Star finished his 50-day test as the fifth best stallion with an overall score of 8.53.
We congratulate Brilliant Star's owner very much on this great athlete and stallion!
